Diwali is celebrated in the month of aipasi 'naraka chaturdasi' thithi, preceding amavasai.The Diwali day begins with everyone in the family taking an oil bath before sunrise. Freshly prepared sweets and new clothes for Diwali is also kept in the puja. Diwali sweets are relished and fire crackers burnt.
